Don’t put yourself into a Box
What happens in society is that we’re clouded by the noise. The noise of family expectations. The noise of our parents. I grew up in a family where you could either be a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer or a failure. Those were my options. Anything else would just count me as a failure.
We focus so much on life and what we wanted to be as opposed to who we want to be We have always been told that life and jobs and careers are like boxes and containers. There is only a finite number of options. You can decide right now that I don’t want to be defined by this box. I don’t want to be defined by these containers, I don’t want to feel that if only I leave in this container, then I’ll be able to be successful. Otherwise it leads to Overthinking Everything
When did people say you can’t change your career at 30? Stop Overthinking
People say you can’t change your career at 30, that’s when you’re meant to be settling down. You can’t change your career at 35, you should have to figure out by then. Oh my god, you are not married at 38? What the hell are you doing with your life? Who comes up with this stuff? I have no idea but this stuff plagues so many people open up to me and say, “Durgesh, I don’t know how to change. Is it even possible?” But many of you are belongs to the young generation, you guys are in the best place right now (20-30) where you can make all those changes.
“You can change whatever you want to”.
This is what people regret the most
Five regrets of the people that are dying.
Top 5 regrets of the dying.
- I wish I’d dared to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
- I wish I had not worked so hard.
- I wish I’d have the courage to express my feelings.
- I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
- I wish that I had let myself be happier.
Points Example: This was a nurse who talked about her experience, sitting down with people just before they died & wrote down the most common regrets people had.
These are the top 5.
The great thing about talking about it right now? Because here the one who read my blogs is many are youngsters with the increase in technology many are young who are on the internet most of the time. They do Overthinking
You are not 80, and you are not dying well, we are dying every day, but… Reality Check. But you are not dying right now.
You don’t have to have any regrets and when I looked at this list, I realized I do not want to waste my life in the corporate world. Not that I hate corporates, I love corporates. I worked with a lot of them, but I wanted to do something meaning full with my life & purposeful with my life. I looked at these I started them in the face, & I said, “I don’t want to be me.”. If not this can also lead to overthinking Everything
What do Successful people have in Common?
I have spent a lot of time studying the resumes of people who have become successful. None of their resumes are aligned. There is no pattern. The one thing they have in common. They all have meaning in their life, they all have a purpose in their life, and above all, they have gone all-in on their natural skills that they have invested in. They have narrowed down their understanding of what they are good at to be one or two things, and good at to be one or two things and go all in
GO ALL IN.
“Learn Everything, Apply Everything” that you are interested in. So, you avoid Overthinking
